How to defend a country in a situation where its infrastructure is subject to real-time cyberattacks across multiple sectors?
On 25–26 March, WIDEN’s attorneys-at-law Kaisa-Maria Kubpart and Dan-Erik Roosve took part in the international cyber defence exercise “Locked Shields 2026 Partners’ Run”, organised by the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence, which brought together cyber defence experts from various fields. Dan and Kaisa were members of TalTech’s legal team.
What is the exercise like? It is a preparatory exercise for the annual international large-scale cyber defence exercise “Locked Shields 2026”, during which a large-scale cyberattack against national infrastructure is simulated. Success requires more than just IT expertise and teams must also be well staffed with, for example, strategic leadership, communications, and legal experts.
For Dan and Kaisa, the exercise went exceptionally well: among the legal teams, an impressive second place out of 16 teams was achieved, and in the overall ranking, the TalTech team secured third place. A proud achievement – congratulations to the whole team!
