WIDEN konsultavo Ekspress Grupp on the acquisition of Õhtuleht Kirjastus

WIDEN advised Ekspress Grupp on an acquisition as a result of which the leading media group in the Baltics becomes the full owner of Õhtuleht Kirjastus. The other party to the transaction was AVH Grupp, from whom a 50% stake was acquired. The decision to proceed with the transaction was made last summer, and the Competition Authority granted its approval on April 2.

The preparation, execution and merger control proceedings of the transaction were led by WIDEN partner and Head of Public Law and Regulations, Margus Reiland. According to him, the transaction is important for preserving the quality of domestic media and for withstanding competitive pressure from global platforms.

Through the transaction, Ekspress Grupp aims to invest in the development of high-quality content, creating added value for readers, subscribers and advertising clients. Õhtuleht Kirjastus will continue as an independent media publication with an editorially independent newsroom.
