The WIDEN team advised JSC Grinda on a EUR 36 million loan from the Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) to expand, reconstruct, and modernize Vilnius’s surface stormwater infrastructure. The financing agreement is part of an investment program under which Grinda plans to allocate more than EUR 81 million to this infrastructure by 2030.
JSC Grinda is a company under the control of the Vilnius City Municipality, which owns 100% of its shares. Founded in 1932, the company provides services related to the maintenance and operation of urban infrastructure, the containment and resolution of emergency situations, street repairs, the maintenance of urban green spaces and beaches, and other services. The loan will enable the company to implement 37 planned projects for the expansion and reconstruction of surface stormwater infrastructure, which will involve expanding stormwater drainage networks, reconstructing worn-out pipelines, installing new stormwater treatment facilities, and purchasing specialized equipment for network operation and maintenance.
The Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) is an international financial institution owned by Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, and Sweden. The bank finances long-term projects in both the public and private sectors. Lithuania has been a member of the NIB since 2005 and holds a 2% stake in the bank’s authorized capital. To date, the bank has financed more than 135 projects in Lithuania, allocating over EUR 2 billion to them.
The WIDEN team in Lithuania, led by Partner Aušra Brazauskienė, represented JSC Grinda throughout the legal process, negotiations with the bank, and the preparation of financing documentation.
