Attorney Karoli Unus and Partner Kristi Sild advised Dasos Capital Oy, an European pioneer in forest-based natural capital investing, on the sale of companies investing into forest asset. The buyer was Ingka Investments, the investment arm of Ingka Group – the biggest IKEA retailer.
The forest asset consisted of a portfolio of approximately 24,000 hectares located in Finland, Estonia and Latvia. WIDEN acted as local counsel for Dasos Capital. Nordea Bank Abp acted as the exclusive financial advisor and Dittmar & Indrenius (FIN) acted as the lead legal advisor to Dasos Capital in connection with the transaction.
WIDEN continuously supports Dasos Capital Oy’s Estonian subsidiaries Metsnik OÜ and Palumetsa OÜ with co-development agreements, lease agreements, and the signing of right of superficies contracts for developing wind parks in Estonia. The superficies transactions were particularly intricate due to the numerous associated obligations and rights, including establishing access roads, detailed plan procedures, cooperation with neighbouring landlords, encumbrances, and infrastructure pipelines. This case facilitated a significant investment by a leading global retailer in sustainable forest assets, promoting environmental stewardship and sustainable land use practices.
